Welcome to the 2 nd edition of the Oasis Care Group Newsletter. We decided to delay sending out this edition until we had received the results of the last three CQC Inspections, but have plenty of news and information to share with you. From the comments received from some of you we have decided to keep the format as before starting with Mike, Mrs Paneandee and Nadia’s column.
Mike, Bigey, Nadia and family would like to start off by saying that they look forward to you joining us in moving forwards with the care homes productively and effectively.
We would like to thank all the
staff for their incredible hard work over the last year, and current times. We appreciate all the effort,
determination and energy into the wonderful care you put forwards. This has
made a huge difference to the quality of life all residents, and reinforced the
person centred approach, which thrives within our care homes.
The upcoming months brings
exciting news, the Oasis Care Group website has gone live!.
http://www.oasiscaregroup.co.uk/ It will represent
the care homes: Lyndhurst, High Pines & Tarry’s which make
the fabulous Oasis Care Group. Our website was designed to promote the care we
offer, as well as provide background information and updates on current events.
It also has key information such as visiting times, resident and staff
vacancies, in addition to lovely pictures within our homes and hope that you
will take the time to access it. Thank you for being part of our thriving community,
we look forward to the future!!
Since the last Newsletter we have sadly had to say ‘Goodbye’ to several residents across the four Homes and our condolences go to all the families. To those families, if you would like to continue receiving copies of the Newsletter, please contact Sarah (contact details at the end of the Newsletter).

Staff news . Firstly we would like to take this opportunity to welcome Donna Allingham to the Organisation – she started work as the new Manager at High Pines on 1 st March and has already met some of the relatives. Secondly we would like to congratulate Bo Abbs (High Pines), Steph Gawler (Tarry’s) and Kerry Allen (Lyndhurst) on their new roles as Heads of Care. This role was introduced to recognise the importance of supporting staff to continue to improve standards of care throughout the four Homes while working closely with Mangers and Deputies.
CQC News. Some of you were involved with the CQC Inspections undertaken at Lyndhurst on 7 th November 2016, Tarry’s on 31 st January 2017 and High Pines on 14th February 2017. These visits were all unannounced and, although stressful for staff, have provided us with fair, independent and detailed feedback, recognising our achievements and highlighting areas that we can improve on. We are delighted to announce that Lyndhurst and High Pines received ‘Good’ for all 5 areas the Inspectors considered – ‘Is the service safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led’, and Tarry’s received one more ‘Good’ than last year. A copy of the Reports will be available to all visitors but you can also access them via the CQC website http://www.cqc.org.uk/provider/. Again we would like to congratulate all staff and thank them for their hard work and determination to improve standards of care.
Quality Assurance Questionnaires. As an Organisation we strive to listen to residents, relatives and visitors, both individually and through Relative meetings and then take action, where possible, to address the comments made. As you are aware, last year we sent out a revised Quality Assurance questionnaire and were delighted with the number of positive responses and suggestions made regarding care practices. Where people provided their names we are in the process of replying to you, but will be discussing the feedback in the Relatives meetings. We also revised the QA form for residents and have asked relatives to assist residents (where necessary) to complete these forms. We recognise that further work is required to ensure that we listen to all residents, relatives and visitors so will be considering this as part of our ‘Improvement Plan’.
Lorraine’s Activity Column. Since the last edition Lorraine, Susan (Lyndhurst), Julia (Tarry’s), -Samantha (High Pines) and Christina had fun with the residents preparing for and enjoying the Halloween and Valentine’s Day Coffee mornings and all the Easter celebrations.
Apart from encouraging residents to get involved in decorating the Homes with bunting, decorations etc, relatives and staff willingly gave their time to make ‘themed’ cakes –some of the Halloween cupcakes were really scary! All the Christmas activities and parties went well with residents, relatives and staff enjoying the festivities, especially the entertainer, Richard and the ‘choirs’.
Lorraine and the Activity Coordinators worked hard to put on some special events over Easter, encouraging residents to prepare by painting Easter Eggs and bunting and decorating Easter Bonnets. We are looking forward to upcoming events, starting with Reminiscents, a singing/guitar group who will be entertaining in the homes during May and June. Our “Strawberry Teas” were such a success last year we are repeating them again and later on in the summer a “Seagulls & Seaside” event! … Please see individual Homes notice boards for times and dates.
Mr Darby, our ‘official photographer’ has unfortunately not
been well recently so we all wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him
‘snapping’ again in the near future.

Minibus Fund.As you will see the minibus Fund now stands at £ 2422.65 an amazing amount of money to be raised in 8 months. We have all been thrilled with the generosity of relatives and visitors and would like to say a massive ‘Thank You’ to everyone who made donations, big and small. Mike is in the process of setting up a ‘Minibus Fund’ bank account so, once we have the details we will make then available in the Homes, on the website and in the next Newsletter if anyone wishes to donate by cheque!
